Weekend at Starkenburg Youth Hostel, Heppenheim, for the girls - 1- 3 April

Johnny went away with the girls, two friends and their kids - 10 in total - and survived. Lazlo (Hungarian), Winfred (German) and myself (Scottish) took our kids away for a weekend without our wives - to give them a break. We stayed in the hostel Starkenburg in Heppenheim, Odenwald, which was an old castle. The kids loved it and the weather was excellent. The town is at the foot of the hill. The views across the Rhein valley were fantastic. We stayed in the tower - much to the delight of the girls. There was a viewing point from the top of the tower which gave panoramic views across the valley round to the Odenwald.
