Weekend in the Swiss Alps 14-18th June 2006

We, together with some friends, stayed for a long weekend in an Alpine Swiss 'hütte' called Trutten located above Frütigen in Kandertal (30 mins from Interlaken) . It is a wonderful location with stunning views of the snow-capped mountains. The hut is located at 1280 meters (4,200 feet). The mountain farmer lives for around 5 months of the year in a hut next door. The children just loved him and when they got up in the morning - got there shoes on and headed off to Willi still in their pyjamas. They 'helped' him with milking the cows and loading his mountain truck with logs among other things.

We visited the Trummelbach Falls (up to 20,000 litres/sec) and also a high alpine meadow called Elsigenalp. The alpine flowers were still around much to Jane's delight. We had very good weather and paddle in the Thunsee as we headed home.
